Oklahoma Apex Hip Design Defect Attorney
In first generation Apex Hips, a small alignment pin was utilized to position the connection between the neck to the stem of the device. In 2006, studies identified the repeated failures of the Apex Hip due to the shearing of the alignment pin. The first generation Apex Hips had insufficient torsional strength due to a deficient modular connection. As a result, the first generation Apex Hips have been discontinued due to repeated failures. The second generation Apex Hips possess 225% better torsional strength. This drastic increase is torsional strength is due to two simple changes: (1) use of a bolt instead of a plug to connect the stem to the neck and (2) increasing the diameter of the alignment pin. If you had the first generation Apex Hip implanted, there is a real possibility the alignment pin will shear causing the device to fail. Consult a Doctor on Medical Issues Please consult your doctor, not your lawyer, on matters relating to your health. Patients should talk to their physicians to decide whether they are at risk with their hip implant. Consult a Lawyer on Legal Issues If you or someone you know has suffered an injury due to a possibly defective Apex Hip implant, please contact The Parrish Law Firm at (800) 270-1980 for a free, confidential consultation.
